Art Activities: Embroidery Collages with Emily Conlon

5pm – 8:30pm, 2nd floor, Education Studio

Ever wondered what your journey would look like stitched into a landscape? Join AWE’s RBC Emerging Artist in Residence, Emily Conlon, in the studio and find out! Inspired by “desire paths”, those spontaneous shortcuts people carve through the world, Emily invites you to create your own route using thread, embroidery hoops, fabric scraps, and ribbons. Build a landscape collage, add embroidered details, and let your imagination wander. All materials provided, everyone welcome!

Community Conversation

6:30pm – 7pm, 3rd floor galleries

This community conversation is organized by the Detroit River Project.

The Detroit River has always been a place of passage – of people, ideas, and possibility. As the Gordie Howe International Bridge nears completion, new parks and cycling routes open, and cross-border rail service set to return from Detroit to Windsor and onward to Toronto, our region is entering a moment of transformation. This community conversation explores transnationalism, shifting borders, and the new ways we move and connect across the river. How are art installations, infrastructure, and reopened rail lines are expanding our sense of connection and creating new opportunities for shared futures?
