Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

With the recent introduction of Ontario’s Intimate Partner Violence Epidemic Act 2024, MPP Gretzky’s bill represents a significant shift toward recognizing intimate partner violence as an epidemic in Ontario. What does this legislation mean for victims of intimate partner violence in our community?
Join us for a community conversation at AWE, where our panel of experts will discuss how we can put this recognition into action, the challenges that remain in providing accessible and effective protection, and how we can build a safer, more supportive environment for victims of intimate partner violence moving forward.
Moderated by Alicia Higgison. With Speakers Tina Newstead, Fartumo Kusow, MPP Lisa Gretzky, and Dr. Patti Fritz.
