Looking for a fun and creative way to spend a PD Day?

Youth ages 6-12 are invited to the gallery for a full day of hands-on artmaking, exhibition tours, and outdoor activities. Each PD Day focuses on a different artistic technique and medium, giving participants the chance to learn new skills, explore the galleries, and spark their imagination in our education studio!

The program is led by AWE’s team of Artist Educators and includes both guided and self-guided activities. Our programs include art-making activities in the studio, guided lessons, lunch and snack break and outdoor play.

Friday, January 15, 2027: Cardboard City

Become both an architect and artist as you design your own city! Instead of simply drawing a city, campers will be transforming recycled materials into creations that will transform into a large cardboard city!

Campers will brainstorm, sketch, and construct buildings while discovering the importance of teamwork. They’ll work together to design the city while also adding their own graffiti-inspired artist tags. Personal touches and collaborative creativity will make their city one of a kind.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Tool Safety: Learn how to safely use tools like a cardboard band saw, glue gun and scissors.
  • Creativity: Turn recycled found materials into unique buildings and structures.
  • Design: Brainstorm, sketch, then build a structure by planning and experimenting.
