What ages are the camp best suited for?

We welcome campers between 6 and 12 years old.

What does a typical day look like?

8:30am: Early Drop-Off ONLY 9am: Drop off at front doors 9am to 12pm: Campers are in the education studio or in the gallery exploring exhibitions. Snack break at 10am. 12pm to 1pm: Lunch and recess at the park. 1pm to 4pm: Campers are in the education studio or in the gallery exploring exhibitions. Snack break mid-afternoon. 4pm: Pick up at front doors. 4:30pm: Late Pick-Up ONLY

What times are pick-up and drop-off?

Early Drop-Off is at 8:30am Regular Drop-Off is at 9am Regular Pick-Up is at 4pm Late Pick-Up is at 4:30pm The front doors will be locked to the general public until 10am. An AWE staff member will greet you at the front door for check-in and lead them to the 2nd floor Education Studio. For pick-up, the campers will meet parents and guardians at the front door at the main entrance of the gallery.

What should I bring to camp?

Please pack: a peanut-free lunch and snacks a backpack a reusable water bottle outdoor gear (hat, running shoes, sunglasses) a sweater (it gets cold in the gallery!) a smock or apron, a change of clothes (things will get messy!). All art supplies provided but we encourage you to bring a personal sketchbook. Note : Please leave all electronics at home.

AWE is fully accessible. Masks are optional while at AWE. Safety measures will be followed. Notify us on your registration form if the camper has an allergy or health concern. Cancellations and Refunds

All cancellation requests must be received in writing by email to shinch@artwindsoressex.ca . Art Windsor-Essex reserves the right to cancel or combine programs if minimum registrations are not achieved 14 days prior to a camp’s start date. Full refunds will be made in the event of program cancellation.

PD Day at AWE: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Age range: 6-12 years old

Looking for a fun and creative way to spend a PD Day?

Youth ages 6-12 are invited to the gallery for a full day of hands-on artmaking, exhibition tours, and outdoor activities. Each PD Day focuses on a different artistic technique and medium, giving participants the chance to learn new skills, explore the galleries, and spark their imagination in our education studio!

The program is led by AWE’s team of Artist Educators and includes both guided and self-guided activities. Our programs include art-making activities in the studio, guided lessons, lunch and snack break and outdoor play.

Friday, November 20 : Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Explore the exciting world of planes, trains, and automobiles! Instead of brushes, roll painted tire tracks to create your masterpiece. Instead of ordinary paper crafts, build your own flying machine to soar through the clouds.

Campers will think like creative engineers and become confident artists. They’ll participate in a series of interactive art projects like creating their own license plates or working together to create a sky mural. Creating their own paper airplane is of course a must.

What You’ll Learn:

Printmaking and Texture: Use everyday objects such as toy cars, foam letters, and crayons to create unique textured artwork.
Creative Engineering: Build your own flying machine to experiment and learn the basics of design.
Collaboration: Work together in creating a large sky mural by combining individual ideas to create one shared piece of art.
