Looking for a fun and creative way to spend a PD Day?
Youth ages 6-12 are invited to the gallery for a full day of hands-on artmaking, exhibition tours, and outdoor activities. Each PD Day focuses on a different artistic technique and medium, giving participants the chance to learn new skills, explore the galleries, and spark their imagination in our education studio!
The program is led by AWE’s team of Artist Educators and includes both guided and self-guided activities. Our programs include art-making activities in the studio, guided lessons, lunch and snack break and outdoor play.
January 16: STEAM City
Working together, campers will dream up and build their own mini city! Using everyday objects, like cardboard boxes, bottles, and empty containers, we’ll turn trash into treasure and create a city full of imagination and colour. We’ll even develop our creative problem-solving skills with engineering games and art challenges.
What You’ll Learn:
- Creative Map-Making: Sketch out your city plan and decide where all your awesome buildings will go.
- City Building & Sculpting: Turn found materials into cool structures and sculptures. Learn how to make buildings strong, playful, and full of personality.
- Mural Design & Graffiti: Create tiny murals and graffiti art to bring your city’s walls to life and show off its unique style.

We welcome campers between 6 and 12 years old.

- 8:30am: Early Drop-Off
- 9am: Drop off at front doors
- 9am to 12pm: Campers are in the studio or gallery. Snack break at 10am
- 12pm to 1pm: Lunch and recess at the park
- 1pm to 4pm: Campers are in the studio gallery. Snack break at 2:30pm
- 4pm: Pick up at front doors
- 4:30pm: Late Pick-Up
- Early Drop-Off is at 8:30am
- Regular Drop-Off is at 9am
- Regular Pick-Up is at 4pm
- Late Pick-Up is at 4:30pm
The front doors will be locked to the general public until 10am. An AWE staff member will greet you at the front door for check-in and lead them to the 2nd floor Education Studio. For pick-up, the campers will meet parents and guardians at the front door at the main entrance of the gallery.
Please pack:
- a peanut-free lunch and snacks
- a backpack
- a reusable water bottle
- outdoor gear (hat, running shoes, sunglasses)
- a sweater (it gets cold in the gallery!)
- a smock or apron, a change of clothes (things will get messy!).
All art supplies provided but we encourage you to bring a personal sketchbook. Note: Please leave all electronics at home.
All cancellation requests must be received in writing by email to [email protected]. Art Windsor-Essex reserves the right to cancel or combine programs if minimum registrations are not achieved 14 days prior to a camp’s start date. Full refunds will be made in the event of program cancellation.
