Shaping Stories: Clay Workshop Series with Jenny Santos

In this three-part workshop series, participants will learn basic handbuilding techniques using air-dry clay while experimenting with form and texture. Each session draws on themes inspired by the current exhibition Mary Anne Barkhouse: Ndishnikaaz | Nugwa’am | My Name Is, encouraging participants to shape stories through clay while experimenting with new techniques.

Explore pinching and modeling techniques, creating forms inspired by flora and fauna.

October 11

Learn coiling techniques while experimenting with storytelling through surface design.

October 18

Discover slab construction and form-building, exploring ideas of place

About the Facilitator: Jenny Santos

Jenny Santos is an artist working in ceramics, sculpture, and installation. Her recent work explores growth, transformation, and our relationship with the natural world and the everyday, often revealing unexpected moments in the familiar. She holds a BFA from OCAD University in Toronto and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and her work has been shown in Canada and the U.S.
