Windsor is a community at a crossroads. Historically reliant on the automotive sector, Windsor faces both challenges and opportunities. Windsor’s previously strong activist movement was tied to organized labour, prior to the 2008 recession.
This has created an opportunity for a new coalition of young Windsorites who are drawn to the city’s strengths and potential.
The creation of Engage Windsor reflects a new generation of residents’ vision to shape this community so that it can fulfill its promise as a vibrant, progressive city in which people can meaningfully connect with municipal politics.
Engage will amplify the work of existing advocacy and grassroots organisations advancing specific policy issues. With its focus on enhancing civic engagement and fostering social inclusion, Engage will play a key role in coordinating and strengthening municipal advocacy efforts.
