The AWE Teen Arts Council is a group of teens aged 14-17 from across Windsor-Essex who have come together to create programs for teens, by teens.

Members meet once a month to plan, organize, and participate in art-based workshops and activities by and for youth.
Being involved with The AWE Teen Arts Council means that you get to connect with other teen artists and art enthusiasts in your area, meet artists and creators at AWE and beyond, plan and attend creative workshops and events, get involved with volunteer opportunities at AWE that can go towards your volunteer hours.
Programs and Activities
Make & Create
Through hands-on workshops, Teen Arts Council members explore new tools, techniques, creative practices, and ideas, guided by emerging artists and arts professionals.
From mixed-media zines and pet portraits to film screenings, music showcases, wool felting, poetry, and cookie decorating, these workshops encourage members to try new things and build new skills.
Explore the Arts
Field trips give Teen Arts Council members a chance to explore Windsor-Essex’s arts and culture scene beyond the gallery walls. From discovering local creative spaces to meeting artists and arts organizations, these experiences open the door to different creative pathways.
Past field trips have included visits to Incubator Art Lab, ARTCITE Inc., Sketch Clay + Pottery, and Willistead Manor.
Share Your Work
The Teen Arts Council gives youth artists a space to share their creativity through dedicated displays. Members have the opportunity to showcase their work and gain experience presenting their art in a gallery setting.
Members collect, organize, and install work with support from AWE staff.
Professional Development
The Teen Arts Council helps members grow as artists through mentorship opportunities and connections with local arts professionals. Along the way, teens explore different creative pathways while building confidence, leadership skills, and experience working on projects with others.
