Let’s make summer last just a little while longer…

On September 21st, both Art Windsor-Essex and the Chimczuk Museum are extending their hours until 9 pm for AWE at Night! Join us for an evening of art activities, community conversations, guided tours, delicious food and drinks, music, and good vibes. Don’t miss out on the stunning views both inside and out!

Microscope Video Art with INCUBATOR Art Lab⎮ 5pm – 9pm, AWE 2nd floor Education Studio 

INCUBATOR Art Lab is back for its third and final studio takeover! Celebrate the exhibition Biocurious with a hands-on learning experience in our Education Studio. Members of INCUBATOR Art Lab will be onsite to guide you through the activity. Details to come!

Children’s Gallery and Learning Space ⎮ 5pm – 9pm, Chimczuk Museum, main floor 

Interactive. Educational. Fun. Discover the Children’s Gallery and Learning Space at the Chimczuk Museum – perfect for the young and young at heart. Explore history and heritage through interactive games, crafts and activities.

Biblioasis Pop-Up Shop ⎮ 5pm – 9pm, AWE 3rd floor galleries 

September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Biblioasis’ pop-up shop will feature resources, books and more where you can discover thought-provoking reads that promote cross-cultural understanding and healing.

In Conversation: Tina Rouhandeh with Muriel Kahwagi ⎮ 5:30pm-6pm, AWE 2nd floor galleries 

Join artist Tina Rouhandeh and TD Curatorial Fellow Muriel Kahwagi for an artist talk about Tina’s art practice and current exhibition, Tina Rouhandeh: Inquiry about Forgotten Birds. Working across calligraphy, hand-stitching, and weaving, Tina’s practice reflects on loss and absence and the ways in which they can (or cannot) be articulated and materialized. Uncover the stories and messages woven into Tina’s tapestries.

Guided Tour: Rosalie Trombley Commemorative Exhibition with the Chimczuk Museum ⎮ 6pm-6:30pm, Chimczuk Museum, main floor 

This temporary exhibition explores the life and work of pioneer Music Director, Rosalie Trombley. The Trombley family has been working hand-in-hand with the exhibition developers to provide an experience that will include biographical information and stories of Rosalie’s life. Discover musician features, records, audio recordings, fashion, vintage items and artifacts from the Big 8, awards, tributes and more!

Indigenous Food Sovereignty: A Community Conversation ⎮ 6:30pm – 7pm, AWE 3rd floor galleries

Settler colonialism has impacted, and continues to impact, forms of knowledge around food and food preparation for Indigenous peoples. This community conversation will center on Indigenous food sovereignty and the ways that knowledge is passed down from one generation to the next by communal cooking, food preparation and more. Discover the obstacles hindering these practices (including policy or governmental restrictions) and how we as allies can support Indigenous food sovereignty. 

In Conversation: Jennifer Willet with Julie Rae Tucker ⎮ 7pm – 7:30pm, AWE 2nd floor galleries 

Jennifer Willet is one of the eighteen artists featured in BioCurious, on now at AWE. BioCurious brings together works by artists whose works explore living materials as their subject matter, and in some cases, their artistic medium. Join co-curator, Julie Rae Tucker for a conversation and Q&A with the artist.

Music, food, and drinks ⎮ 6pm – 9pm, AWE 3rd floor 

Let’s celebrate! Head up to the third floor to join us for music, food and drinks provided by Windsor Eats and CJAM 99.1 FM.
