Join us for a virtual reading group exploring the major themes addressed in Sasha Opeiko’s solo show, pixel / dust, on view at Art Windsor-Essex from October 24, 2023 until January 21, 2024.

The reading group’s first session brings together Levi R. Bryant’s conception of objects as mediating machines and Gilles Deleuze’s notion of shifting enclosures in a capitalist society, with the intention of situating artistic process as something that is influenced by – or relies on – agencies outside of human control.

The second session is an extension of the first, focusing more specifically on the digital circulation and deterioration of images and appropriation of found materials.

This virtual reading group will take place on Zoom on Wednesday November 15 and Wednesday December 13, 10am. Texts will be shared with registered participants four weeks ahead of the first session. All registered applicants will receive a link to the reading group’s Zoom link ahead of each session.

In addition to works by Bryant and Deleuze, we will be reading texts by Isabelle Graw, W. J. T Mitchell, and Hito Steyerl.

This reading group is presented in partnership with Western University.
