Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Renewable Energy? A Community Conversation
Time and Date: Thursday, April 20, 2023, 7pm – 7:30pm
Location: Art Windsor-Essex, 3rd floor
Background: In 2017, the City of Windsor launched its Environmental Master Plan which aims to make the city cleaner, greener, healthier, and more sustainable. Windsor was also recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project as an A-List city amongst municipalities across the globe that are taking bold leadership on environmental action and transparency. In recent news however, the province is struggling to keep up with electricity demand in the Windsor area and new projects are threatening surrounding ecosystems.
Energy is a local issue that affects us all. How will our community handle increasing energy demands and reach its net zero goals? How can we build and sustain clean, and long-term energy supplies?
Moderated by: Craig Pearson, The Windsor Star
Speakers:
- Dr. Rupp Cariveau, Director at Environmental Energy Institute and Engineering Professor at the University of Windsor
- Jeff Watson, Windsor of Change
- Michael Schneider, Director of the Citizens Environment Alliance
