Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

March 14 w/ Talysha Bujold Abu – Investigative Drawing
Join us for a hands-on drawing workshop designed to spark curiosity and deepen your observational skills through five (5) playful exercises. We’ll explore objects in unexpected ways, using different techniques to encourage investigative drawing and creative interpretation.
1. Drawing in Response to Music: Let sound guide your hand as we translate music into shapes, lines, colors, and patterns.
2. Drawing by Touch: Reach into a bag, feel an object, and draw it without seeing—trusting only your sense of touch!
3. Blind Contour Observation: Focus entirely on an object, allowing your eyes to lead your hand without looking at your paper.
4. Non-Dominant Hand Still Life: Challenge your coordination and loosen up your style by drawing a small still life with your non-dominant hand.
5. Negative Space Exploration: Shift your perspective by drawing the spaces around an object rather than the object itself.
We’ll wrap up with a final drawing where you choose a favorite object and apply any of these techniques—or take your own creative approach! This workshop is all about seeing in new ways, embracing imperfection, and developing a more intuitive drawing practice.
