Sandwich Visionaries is an after-school, drop-in arts program designed for school-aged children in Sandwich Town and West Windsor. This initiative, led by local artists, will engage participants in creative activities that highlight local history and culture.

In collaboration with community groups, the Windsor Public Library John Muir Branch, University of Windsor Centre for Cities, and the Sandwich Towne BIA, the program aims to celebrate the individuals who have shaped the neighborhood’s history and provide participants with the skills to help shape its future.

The 24-week program will take place in community spaces and local schools, with additional workshops held at BIA events to engage with a diverse, multi-generational audience.

This community-led initiative will encourage collaboration, focusing on art and creative activities to build skills and promote curiosity. Youth will enhance their abilities in digital literacy, artistic mediums, fine motor skills, critical thinking, research, and communication (oral, written, and visual), while also exploring craft practices rooted in the neighborhood, such as quilting.

Funding for the initiative has been provided by Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Benefits Plan.
