Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Sundays in the Studio! with Marla Howard
DATE: Sundays in November 2022
TIME: 1pm- 4pm
LOCATION: 2nd floor, Education Studio
Spend your Sundays at AWE! This month, join artist Marla Howard for a variety of workshops inspired by the current exhibition, Manuel Mathieu: World Discovered Under Other Skies. Using a variety of techniques and mediums, Marla invites you to consider Mathieu’s work through colour, vibrancy, abstract forms and motion.
This program is generously sponsored by Anne Safranyos and family.
Sunday, November 6th, 1-4pm
Using a variety of drawing tools, Marla invited you to capture Spaces In Between and All Around. Add texture with the use of assorted materials like fabric and cardboard! What spaces are important to you and why? What spaces will you capture in your work?
Sunday, November 13th, 1-4pm
This week, create Abstract Forms and Figures using wire! Mold, shape, twist and bend materials to create a 2D or 3D shape to represent lines in motion. What important figures will you choose to replicate?
Sunday, November 20th, 1-4pm
Using the “resist” technique, explore oil pastels and crayons! Create a pattern inspired by the works of artist Manuel Mathieu.
Sunday, November 27th, 1-4pm
Create a cut-out self-portrait shape and use mixed-media to fill in your representational shape. Get inspired by your friends, family or even a special memory or occasion!
