Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Weekends in the Studio! Bezhig Miigwan / One Feather
DATE: Saturday, September 28th, 2024
TIME: 1pm- 4pm
LOCATION: 2nd floor, Education Studio
Free admission to the gallery on Saturday, September 28th
Join Programming Assistant Emily Conlon in the studio to contribute a feather to our collaborative community display, organized in partnership with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board.
The theme of the display is bezhig miigwan, meaning “one feather”, that symbolizes each survivor, each child lost and denotes that we are all connected and it is vital to work together to achieve reconciliation. It honours the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, celebrates resilience and affirms a commitment that every child matters. The feather represent our collective commitment to working together to achieve truth and reconciliation.
The goals of the display are to promote student engagement and cultural expression through art, empower students and celebrate their talents, and foster collaboration and partnership between AWE and the WECDSB.
