Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Community Display: The 1000 Burger Project: From Exploitation to Expression
April 2, 2024 - April 21, 2024
WFCU Eco-Lounge, 3rd floor
In January, Made in YQG joined forces with heArt from the Streets to initiate the 1000 Burger Project. During a series of workshops at local shelters, participants were encouraged to create a burger in response to the exploitation of folks experiencing homelessness by content creators in Windsor.
heART from the Streets believes that we are all human beings and we have the right to know when we are being filmed for clickbait. This project was created as a response to “content creators” who take advantage of our most vulnerable community.
heArt from the Streets is a transformative initiative aimed at providing marginalized talent with equal opportunities in the arts. Through destigmatizing homelessness, mental health, and addiction via artistic expression, the project seeks to create a safe and supportive environment for artists to thrive. By supplying necessary resources and space for artistic practice, the project upholds the belief that all art holds value and deserves recognition. Our goal is to showcase overlooked talent, offering everyone a chance to pursue their dreams as artists. We actively host art workshops in shelters around the city.
