Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

AWE Gallery
Organized by the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, this outdoor installation at the AGW is a 30x6x6 food galvanized steel sculpture covered with 100 handmade tiles created by high school students from the Detroit Public School Board systems. The colourful tiles, made of glass, clay, metal, acrylic, and wood, incorporate painting, printmaking, and other techniques. Each tile will depict an aspect of the shared history of Windsor and Detroit.
