Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

It’s a madhouse this modern life…

Drawn from the AGW vaults, It’s a madhouse this modern life…assembles Canadian work from the 1980s – a time when art gained an unparalleled public profile and an explosive range of style, content and media that represented the complete arrival of the postmodern in culture. While it’s hard to accept that the 1980s are now considered historical, it’s fun to experience it as a time when art and attitude was as big as the shoulder pads, and almost as big as the hair.
