Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Mary Celestino: Middle Island, A Disquieted Spirit
March 12, 2011 - June 19, 2011
AWE Gallery
Mary Celestino: Middle Island, A Disquieted Spirit features works that focus themselves upon the ecological devastation of Middle Island, Canada’s southernmost point, due to the infestation of large water birds called cormorants. These paintings, created by local painter Mary Celestino, seek to underscore the enormous philosophical divide between those who argue against the notion of reassembling injured ecosystems and those who say that in some cases, we have no choice.
