Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Sandwich Visionaries is having a community art exhibition at Common Ground Gallery!
From March 8th to March 27th the visionaries are taking over Common Ground Gallery for a community display, a week long March Break art camp and our regular weekly workshops.
Sandwich Visionaries is an arts program for kids in the Sandwichtown neighbourhood of Windsor. From September 2024 to February 2025, we held free workshops three times a week at the John Muir branch of the Windsor Public Library.
In these workshops, kids worked with local artists and poets to try different kinds of art. We painted, drew, and made zines, illustrations, and animations. Through these fun activities, they learned about their neighbourhood. They explored the local environment and its connection to the new Urban National Park by learning about food webs and native species. They learned about comics and storytelling by sharing stories through pictures. They also designed murals to decorate empty buildings and community housing properties, imagined new ideas for shopfronts on the main street, and learned about the neighbourhood’s rich history.
We’re very excited to share our work with you at Common Ground Gallery. Please do come and visit!
