Art Windsor-Essex respectively acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Walpole Island First Nation. Surge: Rae Davis / Barbara Sternburg
December 5, 1998 - January 24, 1999
Surge is a collaborative installation involving video, mixed media, sculpture, and film. The exhibition developed out of the shared interests and senibilities of film artist Barbra Sternbern and performance and installation artist Rae Davis. The work relates to the scale of the body and its place in everyday domestic arrangements as well as creating an awareness of the larger scheme of things; in the artists’ words, “it is a way of being in the world – layered, shifting, expandable, unresolvable.”
