Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

AWE Gallery
This exhibition focuses on Vikky Alenander’s interest in how nature is experienced in consumer society. She looks at representations of nature in urban environments. Through photographs and mass-produced decorator materials such as wood veneers, wallpaper murals of scenic landscapes, and mirrors, the natural world is seen artificial.
Vikky Alexander is a Canadian installation artist based in Vancourver, and is currently a professor of visual art at the University of Victoria. Alexander has exhibited her work throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States.
