Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. Art Gallery of Windsor welcomes six new Board Members
The Art Gallery of Windsor is excited to annouce six members of the Windsor-Essex community are joining the Board at the AGW.
The six new Board Members, who were voted in by the AGW membership during the Virtual Annual General Meeting on April 28 include: Gisele Poisson, Phillip Olla, Melinda Munro, James Pineault, Wen Teoh and Maryam Safarzadeh.
"Each new Board Member brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the AGW Board, and we are honoured to have their help and expertise, along with our continuing board members to guide the gallery towards a bright future", says incoming Board Chair, Victoria Little.
New Board Members
Gisele Poisson holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the University of Windsor and has been a practicing artist for over 25 years. Her works can be found in private collections throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally. Gisele is employed with Green Shield Canada, and has worked with a number of non-profits on community events and fundraising initiatives.
Dr. Phillip Olla is Digital Health specialist with over 20 years’ experience. He is an innovator, entrepreneur, and educator. He is currently the CEO of Audacia Bioscience, a biotechnology company incorporating lateral flow technology, Artificial Intelligence, and smartphone technology to develop innovative solutions. He was named as one of the top 30 global innovators by the mHealth Alliance and Rockefeller Foundation. Dr. Olla holds a PhD in Management Information Systems from Brunel University in the UK.
Melinda Munro has been an active part of the Windsor community since moving here in 2004. She is trained as a lawyer and runs a consulting practice that supports government and not-for-profit organizations to achieve service excellence. She has been a singer and board member with the Windsor Classic Chorale since 2004 and is an enthusiastic supporter of the performing and visual arts.
James Pineault, B.Sc.Hons.Phys., P.Phys., graduated from the University of Waterloo. He is currently Laboratory Director of Proto Mfg. facilities in both the U.S. and Canada with over 30 years’ experience in XRD testing for defense, aerospace, automotive, and other industries. He has published numerous scientific papers on XRD applications. He is a long-standing member of the AGW.
Wen Teoh is the Director of EPICentre (the Entrepreneurship, Practice and Innovation Centre) at the University of Windsor. She has twenty years of experience in IT, project management and entrepreneurship. She co-founded an international gas distribution company in Malaysia and a high-pressure cylinder distribution company in the US before moving to Windsor. Wen has a B.B.A. from University of Toledo and an MBA from University of Windsor.
Maryam Safarzadeh is an Iranian Poet and Painter who moved to Canada 2019. After graduating from university with a degree in Graphic Design, she studied many different techniques from various masters of painting in Iran. Her work as been featured in many solo and group exhibitions. Maryam has been teaching art and creation for more than 16 years in various art schools is currently teaching art classes at Sho Art, Spirit & Performance.
