Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Art Gallery of Windsor’s Executive Director Prepares to Start a New Chapter
After nearly a decade of exemplary service at the Art Gallery of Windsor, Dr. Catharine Mastin, Executive Director, recently announced her plans to focus on in-depth research, coupled with her sought-after writing and publishing of best-in-class arts publications. She will complete her tenure at the Gallery on March 31st, 2020.
The Art Gallery of Windsor has been fortunate to have Dr. Catharine Mastin, only its 6th Executive Director in the last 75 years, lead the Gallery for the past nine years. Under Mastin’s leadership, together with the staff and Board, the AGW has realized an impressive performance history, earning the esteemed position as one of Canada’s top 20 budget-scale art galleries in the country; she has also taken the AGW to top provincial and federal rankings in peer assessment and increased grant support.
Mastin has enjoyed the honour of being amongst a small number of Canadians to be an elected member of the Association of Art Museum Directors for North America and she has served recently as only the second AGW Director as President of the Ontario Association of Art Galleries.
An event to recognize Dr. Mastin and all of her accomplishments will take place later this year.
Earlier this year, the AGW Board embarked on strategic planning process, to develop the new 5-year Strategic Plan (2020-2025). It will be spearheaded by an interim-director, who will work closely with the Board and our arts consultant Martin van Zon, to engage the entire Windsor-Essex community to push forward on AGW’s future as one of the leading Art Galleries in Canada.
