Art Windsor-Essex respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Anishinaabe Territory – the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Today the Anishinaabe of the Three Fires Confederacy are represented by Bkejwanong. We want to state our respect for the ancestral and ongoing authority of Walpole Island First Nation over its Territory.

Art for Auction?: Collection Care for the 21st Century ⎮ 6:30pm – 7pm, 3rd floor galleries
Art Windsor-Essex recently announced details of a new endowment fund to support the care and diversification of AWE’s collection. To establish funds for this endowment, AWE will be deaccessioning select works of art, some of which will go up for public sale by Canadian auction house, Cowley Abbott, as part of their annual Spring Live Auction of Important Canadian & International Art on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Join us for a community conversation on deaccessioning to learn more about this initiative, and to discuss how museums are approaching deaccessioning to support collections growth.
With speakers Colette Denali Montoya-Sloan, Robert Cowley, and Emily McKibbon. Moderated by Julie Rae Tucker.
Guided Tour of Last Look with Emily McKibbon⎮ 7pm – 7:30pm, 2nd floor galleries
Last Look is an opportunity to view select works that have been deaccessioned from AWE’s collection. From out of the vault, into the gallery for one last time, these works will soon be removed from AWE’s collection as they are out of scope of AWE’s collections focus on visual arts production in Canada.
Music, food, and drink ⎮ 7pm – 9pm, 3rd floor
Let’s celebrate! Head up to the third floor to join us for music, food and drinks by Windsor Eats, and good vibes.
